The ClubSports Series, powered by DGFX, held its 2nd event of the season at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The race was on the Bike Course which follows the counter clockwise, or anti-clockwise for our European fans, of the oval. Race day dawned with a 26 KPH (16 MPH) tailwind down the main straightaway across the yard of bricks. The Red GT team unfortunately had a paperwork snafu in pre-race tech and had to start from the back of the field. The Blue GT team qualified their Porsche, driven by Rick Yeager, 16th on grid.
At the start of the race, the race director waved the Red GT Porsche, driven by Erich Smith, around the Mazda MX-5 field for the start of the race. Due to some confusion with the late call, the Porsche made contact with one of the MX-5's and received a 60 second stop and hold penalty. This dogged the team co-driven by Taylor Bookout for the remainder of the event.
The Blue GT team stayed relatively unscathed throughout the event with only one real contact on another car and one serious off track moment. Brian Barney, running his first true multi-class race did a great job in the middle stint as he dealt with lapping Porsches and the MX-5 field where there is a great speed discrepancy. Rick Yeager was at the controls for the 1st and 3rd stints and brought the car home safely.
Due to a glitch in the iRacing system, the final results for this race have not been posted.
